Community Choir Enrollment
Announcing Our New Community Choir...
Palmetto Peace Choir
We are thrilled to now offer an opportunity for adults to sing together! Join our choir tribe and nurture your creative spirit, connect with others, increase your skills and confidence and feed your soul.
Palmetto Peace Choir is an independent, secular community choir, unaffiliated with any school or church. Our goal is to choose music that shares universal messages of peace, hope, love and justice. Our repertoire includes an eclectic range of music, such as folk, jazz, world, musical theatre, Americana, pop and traditional choral pieces. Reading music is not a requirement, but is a welcomed skill. Auditions are not required. Members learn musicianship, music literacy, vocal technique and performance skills, and participate in concerts and outreach and community events.
We offer heart-centered direction and guidance, while also maintaining steadfast musical integrity. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all, regardless of race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, color, national origin, religion, disability or age.
New members join us for a "Meet & Greet"on September 23, 3pm-5pm at Martin's BBQ, 1620 Highland Ave. on James Island (near Wild Blue Ropes just off Folly Rd.) Tea, lemonade and hush puppies provided. Our first rehearsal is Monday, September 25 at 6:30pm!

DID YOU KNOW that singing in a choir promotes social bonding, which contributes to a sense of belonging and joy? Studies have found that group singing fosters trust, cooperation and social cohesion. Singing is calming, which produces physiological benefits, and also helps you form meaningful relationships, promoting self-esteem and a sense of well-being. It has even been proven to foster better cognitive function. And it's FUN! Come be a part of our choir tribe and feed your whole self!
Our Space
Our choir rehearsals and camps are held at the James Island Arts & Cultural Center! This beautiful facility is located at 1248 Camp Road, Charleston, SC 29412, near the intersection of Camp Rd. and Dills Bluff Rd. The new facility was recently renovated from a former library building into a new space, specifically designed to showcase local artists and James Island's rich history. They offer many artistic, cultural and programming opportunities! They opened their doors in August 2021. At the helm of the JIACC is Mrs. Caroline Self, Director of Development. We encourage you to visit this fabulous facility, and explore their exhibits and other community programs and events.
