North Charleston Arts Festival
Sunday, May 5, 2024; 2:00-4:00 p.m.
The sweet voices of the Palmetto Youth Choir will welcome spring in this joyful afternoon concert. Enjoy a variety of uplifting and heartwarming musical selections, all celebrating the universal themes of peace, love, and harmony, including songs by The Beatles, Jack Johnson, Jackie DeShannon, renowned choral composer Greg Gilpin, and more! The choir will be conducted by Danielle Loveless and accompanied by Bill Gesin, with artistic direction by Regina Ruopoli.
The 41st annual North Charleston Arts Fest takes place May 1-5! The celebration of arts and culture highlights the talents of regional and local artists and performers in the areas of music, dance, theatre, visual arts, and literature. Performances, activities, and exhibits take place in a variety of venues throughout the city of North Charleston with free admission for all. Residents and visitors can enjoy concerts, dance performances, art demos, kid’s programs, a variety of exhibitions, an Arty Block Party, and more! Come hear the sweet voices of our youth and adult choirs as we share uplifting and heartwarming music celebrating the universal themes of Peace, Love & Harmony! You will hear selections from artists such as The Beatles, Carole King and Jack Johnson, as well as choral pieces from beloved composers such as Greg Gilpin.

ABOUT OUR CHOIRS
Palmetto Youth Choir is for grades K-8.
Palmetto Peace Choir is for adults and mature high schoolers.
We provide choral music education and performance experience while inspiring a lifelong love of singing and music. We work together to build choral skills and musicianship, while having fun and providing connection and community.
We explore an eclectic range of musical styles, and foster a fun, friendly and creative atmosphere. We offer heart-centered direction and guidance, while also maintaining steadfast musical integrity. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all, regardless of race, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, color, national origin, religion, disability or age. We are an independent choir, not affiliated with any school or church. We believe music can bring profound inspiration to those who wish to make the world a better place.
We rehearse at the James Island Arts & Cultural Center in Charleston, SC.

Come hear the sweet voices of our new community youth choir as we welcome spring with our 1-hour concert, "Dreams of a Child." We will share a variety of musical selections and poetry to remember the simple beauty of childhood dreams. You will hear music from shows such as Matilda, the Musical, The Greatest Showman, and Brave, as well as uplifting and inspirational choral pieces from beloved composers such as Jim Papoulis and Amy Bernon.
Our 38-member youth choir will be joined by a fabulous musical ensemble:

NOTE: At our concert, a representative from The James Island Outreach will be present to collect food donations. This is a local charity providing food, labor and emergency funds to the people of James Island & Folly Beach! www.jioutreach.org
Their headquarters are right next door to our venue -- so this is an easy way we can all join together to do something good!
Will you please bring a few food items with you to donate? They welcome the donation of any unexpired non-perishable food items.
Each month more than 170 households come to James Island Outreach for food assistance. Their food pantry provides fresh produce, frozen meats, bakery items and non-perishables to promote well-balanced nutrition. Last year, more than 213,000 pounds of food with an estimated value of $368,490, was shared with their community.

We're thrilled to be the opening act for this production of Treasure Island! ✨🥳✨ We will open the show with a few songs, and then everyone is invited to enjoy this FREE, fully staged, hour-long family musical comedy! It will be outdoors, so bring chairs/blankets. This Lowcountry-set adaptation of the classic is brought to life with sea shanty musical numbers that have children of all ages laughing and smiling long after the cast’s final bows!
